In a rather surprising manner, Lenovo, the Taiwanese computer manufacturer spinoff from IBM’s computer business, launched their newest phone the Lenovo Lemon 3. It is surprising as a week ago the Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, has released the Xiaomi Redmi Pro3 which has more or less the same specs as the Lemon 3. Looks like Lenovo has become more aggressive in their strategy in taking the mid-end Android market which is good news to consumers who are not able to afford or not gunning for those high-end flagship phones.
The Lenovo Lemon 3 is about 8mm thick and weighs in at 142g with an 5.0 inch IPS screen. Not bad for a mid-end phone. Armed with a the Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset, 1.6Ghz Octacore processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable via SD card, and Adreno 405 GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) this phone is a force to be reckoned with and depending on the apps that you install this phone can perform at par with some high-end Android smartphones. Much more if you overclock the Lemon 3 via android rooting. The Octacore processor is much quicker than the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro’s hexacore processor on paper. The most impressive feature about this phone is that it has Dual 4G LTE Sim ready and dual 4G standby. The upcoming android phone will have a 13MP rear and 5MP front facing camera. The only downside about this phone is that it has only 2750 mAh Li as opposed to the 4000mAh battery of the Redmi 3 Pro. This phone will be released with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The specs are really more or less is the same as the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro except for the battery. Which leads us to believe that this phone is really intended to rival Xiaomi’s offering. The phone will be available in Gold and Silver variants, which will make it really look like an iPhone. Android rooting methods for Lenovo phones are readily available which make them fan favorites.
The android market has really become a competitive one with the release of upcoming phones from the manufacturing giants like Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi. This creates a lot of choices for consumers and the pricing will of course be very competitive. This is really good news for us and this will be the mood for the coming months to come. If Android security will improve, we will see a shift from the iPhone to Android.
